About
Hi. I'm Kristilyn. I like to make offbeat comics and drawings that reflect my taste and worldview. I am obviously influenced heavily by the art and culture of the 1960’s. To me, it’s a timeless aesthetic, eclectic yet simple. But it’s really about that energy - that sense of possibility that permeated everything. It was (and remains) beautiful.
I love music, and in turn, I love working with music makers. Songs tell stories, but so do rhythms and melodies. Illustrating them creates another channel of communication with listeners and fans. (And it’s a pretty cool way to do merch.) We can’t get enough of music memorabilia, and I think that’s partially because of the belonging and connection that art can create.
As you can probably tell by my work, I’m also fascinated by art and culture makers. Writers, filmmakers, actors - capturing their likeness is a skill one can develop, but capturing their essence is more involved. That’s where my research skills and true passion for understanding the artists behind the work comes into play. Setting and situation can tell us so much. And all the better if I can add flowers or animals. There’s so much potential for symbolism and meaning in visual art, but I love a nod to mythology and lore.
So I guess you could say my work is seemingly simple, but potent.
I hope you enjoy it.
